What is an Ice Wand™?

The Ice Wand is a simple drop-in cylindrical wand designed to control slime and bacterial growth in ice machines.

Why do I need an Ice Wand?

Remember, ice is food. Bacterial buildup in ice machines contaminates ice, causing poor taste and odor in beverages. This can cause you to fail health inspections.

Bacterial buildup can also decrease the life span of your ice machine by several years. Preventing buildup improves the performance of your ice machine and reduces maintenance and repair. It can reduce cleaning costs by 75% or more.

How does the Ice Wand work?

The Ice Wand contains an advanced antimicrobial media designed to inhibit the growth the bacteria, algae and slime. The technology uses antimicrobial properties of certain minerals and metal oxides to interfere with the growth of microorganisms.

Is it difficult to install the Ice Wand?

The Ice Wand installs in 30 seconds. Simply drop it into the influent water sump/water bath of your ice machine. Be sure that as much of the Ice Wand is below the water line as possible. Use the cable tie (included) to anchor it out of the way of the float valve (in larger ice machines).

Before you install the first Ice Wand, you must clean and disinfect your icemaker according to the manufacturer’s directions. Do not use cleansers and sanitizers simultaneously with the Ice Wand.

It is recommended to replace the Ice Wand every three months for a typical 500-1200 lb. ice machine.
