Sustainability: A responsibility HUBERT takes seriously.
Many companies around the globe are talking more frequently about sustainability: sustainability of resources, sustainability of the environment, even sustainability of fairness to employees. But at HUBERT, we don't think of sustainability as just a buzzword. Rather to us, sustainability is a responsibility. A responsibility to how we conduct our business for the long term–taking into account how our business impacts people, nature, both now and in the future. We take this responsibility seriously and apply it across how we interact with manufacturers, customers and our employees.
It is under the guiding principle of sustainability that we encourage our manufacturers to use processes that are less impactful to our environment. It is why we invest so much in the training and education of our employees–to find ways to improve our processes to reduce negative impact. We make every effort to ask that businesses we partner with also do their part to encourage action within their businesses with regard to the environment and climate protection, fairness and consistency. In addition to this we act according to the ten universally acknowledged principles of the most important international business network for sustainable globalisation – the "Global Compact of the United Nations". As one of the many companies taking part world-wide we have undertaken to integrate human rights, environmental protection, work standards and anti-corruption measures in our business activities.
All of this rolls up to what we refer to as Sustainable Corporate Responsibility. In fact, we've found ways to implement strategic sustainability in six core areas of business which we derived straight from the UN's Ten Acknowledged Principles of Global Compact:
